Your labels, everywhere.
Categories let you define your own labels and apply them to assets, plans, resources, passes, and members, so your space is organized the way you actually think about it. A category is separate from an item's structural type. An office is still billed and assigned like an office, but you can also tag it Ground Floor or Executive Suites to group and sort it however you like. Each kind of item has its own independent set of categories, managed under Settings with five tabs. Resources come with built-in categories out of the box, and every pool supports custom categories you create, rename, drag to reorder, and remove. You can even create a category on the fly without leaving the add or edit form.

Every asset, resource, and pass already has a built-in type that controls how it's billed, booked, and assigned. A category sits on top of that as a free-form organizational label with no effect on behavior. Two private offices can share the same type while carrying different categories, so you organize without changing how anything works. Categories are always optional, so any item can have none.
Categories never mix across item kinds. Assets, plans, resources, passes, and members each get their own pool, managed on its own tab in Settings. Plans stay separate from assets even though they're related under the hood. The picker on any item's form only ever shows that item's pool, so the options always make sense for what you're tagging.
Resources arrive with built-in categories: Meeting Room, Equipment, Workspace, and Other. They're pinned to the top, badged, and always available. Alongside them you add your own custom categories, name them, drag them into the order you want, and remove the ones you no longer need. The other four pools start empty and hold exactly the categories you create.
When you're adding or editing an item, the category picker includes a Create new category shortcut for admins. Name it, save it, and it's selected for the current item and available everywhere that pool is used. No detour to Settings in the middle of your work.
